Using actionscript you need to use:
Key.isDown( Key.RIGHT )
Key.isDown( Key.LEFT )
And then write your own function that handles that on a frame by frame basis.

I beat this game by abondoning the ship in the corner and I beat the whole game so literaly I could beat it in my sleep. You should fix that. Plus the game is super boring and has an aweful concept. Sorry

I've seen this done before but it would be nicer with an rpg element like when you level up you can distribute points to speed or better with machinery.Kinda like diner dash.
